Original Zhuni Clay · Goldfish Lid Knob · Lotus Leaf Wrapping Body
The Xishi teapot is one of the classic shapes in Yixing Zisha tradition, named after Xi Shi, one of ancient China's fabled Four Beauties. Celebrated for its feminine curves and graceful proportions, the Xishi form is characterized by a rounded, full body that tapers gently to a short, upright spout and a circular handle. The silhouette is soft, compact, and pleasingly plump—like a ripe fruit held in the palm.
This teapot follows that classic silhouette while introducing original carved details on both the lid and the body.
The teapot is crafted from original Yixing vermilion (Zhuni) clay , sourced from the Huanglong Mountain mining region.
Around the lower half of the teapot body, a continuous carved lotus leaf pattern wraps upward from the base, as if the leaf is embracing the pot from below. The carving technique uses bas-relief (low relief): the leaf shapes are raised slightly from the background surface, with carved lines defining veins, rolled edges, and natural folds.
Tea Compatibility
Zhuni clay's dense, smooth surface makes this teapot suitable for:
-
High-aroma oolong (Tieguanyin, Phoenix oolong) – concentrates fragrance
-
Taiwanese high-mountain teas – preserves delicate floral and creamy notes
-
Light to medium roast teas – Zhuni does not mute or alter subtle flavors
The teapot should be dedicated to one type of tea to allow the unglazed interior to season properly. Rinse with warm water after each use; no soap required.

Ideal For
This teapot is suited to gongfu tea and daily rituals, personal collections, and thoughtful gifting where appropriate.
