The Qu Pot was co-designed by Zhang Shouzhi (1932–2020) and Wang Yinxian (1943–2018) and crafted solely by Wang Yinxian. In 1990, the Qu Pot won first prize in both the national ceramic design competition and the International Fine Arts Competition. The design of the Qu Pot was inspired by the natural form of a snail: the spout resembles the snail's head, the body of the teapot represents the snail's torso, and the space created by the handle mimics the snail's shell. From the spout to the handle, a continuous spiral line runs through, connecting the teapot body and handle into a cohesive whole. The name "Qu Pot" derives from the pot's flowing lines, which resemble the rhythm of a song, giving it its poetic name（Qu refers to rhythm in Chinese).
In 1990, the Qu Pot won first prize in both the National Ceramic Design Competition and the International Fine Arts Competition, and in 2012, it was auctioned for 3.68 million yuan. It is now housed in the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
