Oolong tea brewing vessel with heat-retentive properties suited for multiple infusions by Kungfuyang

This teapot is crafted from original Yixing vermilion clay (Zhuni clay), one of the most prized materials in Chinese ceramic tradition. Sourced from the depths of Yixing's Huanglong Mountain, Zhuni is distinguished by its fine, dense particle structure, high iron content, and distinctive reddish-orange hue that deepens with firing . The clay is naturally rich in iron oxide, which contributes to its warm color and exceptional thermal properties.

After mining, the clay undergoes traditional aging and refining processes to achieve its characteristic fine, smooth texture. When fired to approximately 1080-1120°C, Zhuni develops a tight, glass-like surface that is less porous than other Zisha clays, making it particularly effective at concentrating tea aroma and preserving heat.

The Rongtian shape—literally "containing heaven"—is one of the classic forms in Yixing teapot design. Its lineage traces to the late Qing dynasty master Shao Daheng, who drew inspiration from the Buddhist concept of the universe contained within the vessel .

The name reflects both the visual fullness of the form and the philosophical ideal of containing vastness within smallness—a vessel that holds not just tea but the essence of contemplation.

The teapot is left unglazed, preserving the natural characteristics of Zhuni clay. Over time, as tea oils penetrate the clay surface, the color will deepen and develop a characteristic "tea-stained" sheen prized by collectors.

As with all Yixing Zisha, this teapot is intended to be dedicated to one type of tea. The unglazed surface will gradually absorb tea oils and develop a patina that enhances both appearance and brewing performance. Clean by rinsing with warm water after each use; no soap required.
